The art and music have always been central to the human experience.

TWO FRIENDS [PLAYING]: AUG 14 – SEPT 27, 2026

Woodstock Artists Association & Museum, 28 Tinker Street, Woodstock NY

As a Hudson Valley-based abstract painter, much of my efforts are focused on creating paintings that encourage viewers to rethink how experiences shape who we are. My thoughts and imagination oftentimes occupy the space between past, present, and future encounters to seek meaning and purpose of joy and hope, sadness and grievance, and our current existence.

The intersection of painting and music provides a unique avenue for emotional resonance and intellectual stimulation. Whether experienced together or separately, these mediums expand our understanding of human expression. They can evoke our reconsideration of personal historical context and be inspired into considering future possibilities.

With these new paintings, I am inviting the viewer to consider how two musicians (Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays) with two distinct expressions of human creativity could transcend barriers to touch hearts and stimulate minds. And with different instruments could create music that provoke thought, challenge assumptions, and shape how we see ourselves in the moment.

“The theme of the exhibit is inspired by the song ‘Last Train Home’ from the album ‘Still Life [Talking].’ Even when I am being still and listening to their music, I recognized myself as a passenger – moving through my past, present, and future.”
